# Creating a task

> How to create a task manually and choose the right workflow type.

Not every case arrives by email or phone. This page shows how to create a task by hand, for example for a letter, a note or a planned tenant change.

## Where to create a task

You find the **Neue Aufgabe** (New task) button in the task list under **Aufgaben** (Tasks). Alternatively, open the search (icon in the bottom left) and choose the quick action New task.

## Step by step

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the workflow type">
    The wizard first asks for the workflow type. Available types: Schadensbearbeitung (damage handling), Allgemeine Anfrage (general request), Versicherungsfall (insurance case), Mietereinzug (tenant move-in), Mieterauszug (tenant move-out), Mieterwechsel (tenant change), Sanierung & Renovation (refurbishment), Objektvermarktung (property marketing), STWEG Beschlüsse (condominium resolutions) and Notiz (note). The type determines the checklist, the required fields and the default due date.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign property, unit and tenant">
    Select the property (**Liegenschaft**). mory then filters the units (**Einheiten**) of that property. As soon as a unit is chosen, the tenant from the active tenancy is filled in automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose equipment (for damages)">
    For damage handling and insurance cases, choose the affected equipment (**Ausstattung**). The list is filtered by property and unit, so only matching items appear.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter title and description">
    Enter a short title. You can write the description yourself or let the AI generate it. The AI generates the description and summary once, when the task is created; after that you edit the text manually.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set source, priority and due date">
    Choose the source (for example Letter or Manual), the priority (low, medium, high, urgent) and check the due date. The due date is preset per workflow type and can be adjusted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the task">
    Confirm the wizard. The task appears at the top of **Meine Aufgaben** (My tasks).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Required fields per type

Which fields are mandatory depends on the workflow type. As a rule of thumb:

| Workflow type | Typical required fields |
| --------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Damage handling, insurance case | Property, unit, equipment, description |
| Tenant move-in, move-out, tenant change | Property, unit                         |
| General request                         | Property, description                  |
| Refurbishment, property marketing       | Property                               |
| Condominium resolutions                 | Property (condominium)                 |
| Note                                    | Title                                  |

Fields may differ depending on your organization's configuration.

## Notes

A note (**Notiz**) is a task without an agent. When creating it, you decide whether the note is private. Private notes are marked with a lock and are visible only to you.

## What happens after creation

* The task receives a task number in the format T-YYMMDD-NNN.
* The responsible person is taken from the property.
* For all types except Note and External - no agent, the mory agent starts and works on the first checklist step.

<Tip>
  Before creating a task, check whether one already exists for the same case. Use the search in **Alle Aufgaben** (All tasks).
