# Managing companies

> How to record contractors, insurers, utilities and owner companies and define preferred partners per property.

Under **Bewirtschaftung › Unternehmen** (Property management › Companies) you manage all companies you work with. This page explains the kinds of companies, how to create one and how mory suggests contractors from them.

## Kinds of companies

| Kind              | Examples and specifics                                                                                                                                                     |

| Contractors       | Trades and service providers with categories such as Sanitär (plumbing), Elektro (electrical) or Heizung (heating). They are marked as contractors and suggested in tasks. |
| Insurers          | Building and liability insurance                                                                                                                                           |
| Utilities         | Electricity, water, gas, telecommunications                                                                                                                                |
| Owner companies   | Companies acting as owner of a property or unit                                                                                                                            |
| Property managers | Other management companies and organizations                                                                                                                               |

  Every **Organisation** (organization) of your company also exists automatically as a company entry. These entries are shown in bold in the list.

## The list

The list shows all companies with categories, roles and linked properties. You can filter by property to see only the partners of a specific property. With many entries, page through the list at the bottom.

## Creating a new company

    Click the plus button and enter the company name. Choose the categories, e.g. plumbing or electrical. The categories determine which kinds of damage mory suggests the company for.

    Set the roles (e.g. contractor, insurer) and enter email, phone and address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Business details">
    Add the UID (Swiss business identification number) and IBAN. The IBAN is needed for invoice verification.

  <Step title="Responsible person">
    Choose the person in your team who maintains the contact with the company.

<Warning>
  Check whether the company already exists before creating it to avoid duplicates. Contacts are visible to all organizations of your company, so the company may already have been recorded by another organization.

## The company page

The company page has the tabs **Übersicht** (Overview), **Aktivität** (Activity), **Personen** (People, i.e. involved persons such as the company's contacts), **Liegenschaften** (Properties) and **Dokumente** (Documents). You edit fields directly in the sidebar by clicking on them.

## Company as tenant or owner

A company can be a party in a tenancy, for example for commercial space, or be recorded as owner of a property. The relationship is then created automatically and appears on the company page in the **Liegenschaften** tab. See [Units & tenancies](/en/management/units-tenancies).

## Preferred contractors per property

If a property has regular partners, record them on the [property page](/en/management/property-page) in the **Partner** tab, including category and agreed costs. mory prefers these partners for damage reports concerning the property.

  If no suitable contractor exists for a damage report, you can create one directly from the task. It then appears in the company list.
